Discussion circle

In the beginning of 2017 we will start a new project called “Discussion Circle: Agora”.

Discussion circle, from March 2017 will be integrated in our new project called Lab Language Special

According Wikipedia:

The agora (/ˈæɡərə/; Ancient Greek: Ἀγορά Agorá) was a central spot in ancient Greek city-states. The literal meaning of the word is “gathering place” or “assembly”. The agora was the center of athletic, artistic, spiritual and political life of the city […] From this twin function of the agora as a political and commercial space came the two Greek verbs ἀγοράζω, agorázō, “I shop”, and ἀγορεύω, agoreúō, “I speak in public”.

For us the central spot is the Stadtteiltreff Dietrichsfeld so there would be our meeting place. We don’t have anything to sell or buy except our ideas, so we will try to implement the second word that derives from Agora, the word who means “I speak in public”. In our case the public would be our neighbors although people from other parts of the city can also take part in this project

Our aim is to bring the people of Dietrichsfeld District in Oldenburg together through exchanging views, talking to each other. By knowing each other we believe that the bond between the citizens can be stronger also when they have opposite views for a subject. Dietrichsfeld is a multicultural district we also believe that this project could help the better integration of immigrants/refugees and also give the opportunity to native Germans to understand the way of thinking of the newcomers.

An open circle of people, without a specific agenda every week, preferably Fridays afternoons, interacting each other and talking about everyday issues, politics, and whatever else they like, in a civilized manner trying to learn each other and themselves.

The circle is open to everybody, Native German or immigrant, man or woman, young or old. The language is German but in case of difficulties we will try to translate, since a good communication is the means for a better understanding.

More info will come later through our news section where we will announce the day and they time of our first meeting.
